Mohammad Jahidul Islam

Mohammad Jahidul Islam is a professional journalist with over 15 years of experience in business journalism, focusing on the economy, data analysis, and public infrastructure. He holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Economics from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. Jahidul began his journalism career as a university correspondent for various newspapers from 2003 to 2009. In February 2009, he started as an Economic Reporter for The Daily Amar Desh and continued in similar roles at other Bangla newspapers until 2017. He then became a Senior Reporter at Daily Bangladesher Khabor. In July 2019, Jahidul transitioned to English journalism, joining The Business Standard as a Staff Correspondent and later being promoted to Senior Staff Correspondent in 2021. Currently, he serves as a Special Correspondent for The Bangladesh First. His expertise lies in macroeconomic reporting, covering key indicators such as growth, poverty, wage, income, inequality, savings, investment, inflation, and living standards. Jahidul also reports on public infrastructure, including railways, roads, metro rails, and bridges. He is well-versed in covering key government and non-governmental bodies and major development partners, making him a comprehensive voice in Bangladesh's economic landscape.
